Egan Waste once more supporting the community

On the 22nd June 2018, the Beddau Rugby U16’s squad will be leaving for Ontario, Canada on a rugby tour as an end to their junior years playing with outstanding grit, determination and passion, and a thanks to every single player who has committed themselves to the club. Some or all moving on to youth in the next season.

The team is 29 strong and the majority of players have been together for almost 9 years now and in that time, we have welcomed, even encouraged others, both sexes, to join, from within Beddau and its surrounding towns, all current players attending the same High School at Bryn Celynog in Beddau.

We are very proud of their achievements over the years always surprising us and others of their determination, flair and skills and the hard work. On top of this, we are also proud of the never-ending support from the management of the team, including our four coaches to our tour organiser and so forth.

We have seen the losses, but with our teams’ heads still high, but we have seen far more wins over the years, some to exciting levels where it has recently been commented by senior management at Pontypridd RFC that ‘it was the best display they have ever seen by a junior side and that we have a hell of a youth side coming’. We have also won many tournaments over the years, many of which including Harrow in London for the last three years, and the Leicester Tigers Youth Challenge at Minehead, among others.

Many of our players have played for the district and recently we have one of our props playing for the Cardiff Blues Under 16 squad and another, a no.8, for the Boys Club of Wales Under 16 squad.

During this tour to Ontario, our team will play two games, welcomed by Ajax wanderers RFC and Oakville Crusaders.

Although our tour organiser has done an extremely good job raising the necessary funds for the tour, we were looking for much needed funds towards team wear and asking local businesses if they would be interested in sponsoring the team in order that they can possess the much-needed kit.
